Bonaparte on Saint Helena
Bonaparte on Saint Helena, 2012. 10" x 10". Acrylic, oil stick, pencil on canvas.
Napoleon's loss at Waterloo led him to be banished to the desert isle of Saint Helena. In his final years there he took up gardening. I've spent a lot of my own time turning the earth; and I imagine that his mind would often wander off to those blasted fields of Europe that he nearly conquered.
